Tips to: SAVE MONEY ON GAS!

Don't top off.
  •  Even though you might want to round off your total, you’re actually just wasting gas. Gasoline is stored underground in a cool place, and when it heats up in your car (especially in the summer), it expands.
  • This could cause your tank to overflow if you top off too much, which means you’re pouring your gasoline, and money, down the drain.
Turn of your engine.
  • When you are sitting in standstill traffic, waiting in a slow drive-thru, or even just waiting for someone, you actually save gas by turning off your car.
  • Idling your car for 10 seconds actually consumes more gas than turning off and restarting your car.
Pump up your tires.
  • Keeping your tires aired up to the proper level will reduce the contact area of your tire to the road and therefore reduce the friction.  This will slightly improve your gas mileage.

Use the brake correctly.
  • A car consumes most gas as it accelerates. A moving car doesn't require much gasoline to keep moving.
  • In order to improve your mileage, you need to keep your car moving as smooth as possible. Speeding up and slamming on the breaks is really rough on your gasoline consumption.

Lighten the load.
  • Weighing your car down with unneeded items means that it requires more gasoline for your car to move.  Go ahead and take out some of the extra things you have stored in your trunk, but keep the spare tire!
